why do more?
Think about the phrase “do more of what makes you happy” Is that to what we should aspire? Is that our ultimate goal? NO. But when we do more of what makes us HOLY, happiness, fulfillment and joy will be a natural by-product. As Christians, we are called to pursue holiness, not happiness. In this "do-what-feels-good" culture, we should be God's mouthpiece to draw people closer to Him, where true happiness is found. The Message version of I Peter 1:15-16 sums it up "As obedient children, let yourselves be pulled into a way of life shaped by God’s life, a life energetic and blazing with holiness. God said, “I am holy; you be holy.”

about the legacy
My dad, Jimmy Polk, has been a public school music educator since 1997. His love of music has been contagious to all who knew him and to the thousands of students he impacted over his career. In 2018 he was diagnosed with a very rare, very deadly brain disorder called frontotemporal degeneration or ftd. His condition forced him to leave the career he loved at the age of 47. In September of 2020, Dad went to be with our Heavenly Father.
To carry on his legacy, my family has established domoretx, and a percentage of proceeds from each order go directly to theaftd.
Time after time, we are told to do what makes US happy, to look out for ourselves, and to follow our dreams and hearts’ desires, but the Bible says in Jeremiah 17 that “the heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked.” It is not our “right” to live a life completely pleasing to our desires, constantly feeding into our entertainment feed while this world grows darker and darker.
One of the biggest lies of the Devil is, "Do whatever makes you happy." While it's not wrong to be happy or to seek happiness, life isn't always happy. Neither is the Christian life all about happiness. Instead, it's about being holy and showing the true nature of God. Everything He does is based upon His holiness. The problem with worldly happiness is that it's fleeting compared to the joy that's the fruit of the Spirit. Holy happiness is absurd to the world. Matthew 5:11-12 would make any Christian look crazy to the unsaved because they're told to rejoice and be exceeding glad for their wrongful persecutions and accusations. The natural response is to get angry but Jesus told His followers to rejoice instead if they're ever wrongfully accused and wrongfully persecuted. God allows His children to suffer persecution as part of Christian growth. The truth is that a faith that's not tested can't be trusted.
Happiness is a feeling. Joy is a fruit.
